An
integral part of Aid Afghanistan for Education’s (AAE)
commitment to rural education in Afghanistan is studying and
addressing the underlying factors that limit access to education.
Increasingly, the single greatest barrier to education is
poverty.
In
recognition of this reality, AAE is launching a new initiative
to develop a family-focused rural livelihoods and employment
program which will be coupled with existing educational methodologies.
The cornerstones of the program are literacy, business development,
and vocational training.
- Literacy
– Basic literacy for families.
- Business
Development - A nationwide small business incubator providing
basic business training, and microfinance.
- Vocational
Training – Technical and vocational training will
be provided for family members to gain the skills needed
for their small enterprises.
More
information on the development of this project will be available
throughout the fall of 2007. Check back here regularly for
updates.
